Whiteface Lodge Resort & Spa
One of the most elegant resorts in the Adirondack mountains is the luxury Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid. This intimate, all-suite resort gently combines luxury with rustic charm for one of the most elegant “back-woods” retreats we’ve ever come across.
Each of the 85 suites features Adirondack-style furnishings, overstuffed beds, private balconies and heated bathroom floors. Accommodations range from one-bedroom junior suites that sleep four (with a pull-out couch), to fireplace-equipped three-bedroom suites that near 2,000 square feet in size and can sleep eight in luxurious comfort.
The resort is minutes from Lake Placid Airport (LKP), making it a great destination for east-coast pilots looking for a quick getaway or a close-by vacation resort. This resort even offers private jet service for non-pilot guests looking for that intimate travel experience.
The resort is less than 15 miles from the famed Lake Placid ski area, home to the 1980 Winter Olympics. This upscale ski destination offers more than 225 skiable acres accessed by 10 lifts. Average snowfall for the area is just under 170 inches, making it one of the most capable ski destinations in the northeast.
Whiteface Lodge was just completed in June 2005, so it offers the latest amenities and world-class service in an area that is known for its casual rustic surroundings.
This intimate resort was named one of the top 10 new romantic destinations. It’s comfortable décor combined with breath-taking scenery creates a wonderfully relaxed feeling that allows couples to truly relax and connect.

It's no wonder that the resort’s 5,800-square-foot spa specializes in couples massage therapies, with a variety of treatments including a French lavender sea bath and massage ritual (for two!) and a soothing, bed-time “sleep” ritual conducted in your suite which combines aroma therapies and gentle massage to help you truly shake off the cares of the day and put your mind and body at ease.
Dining is another intimate expression at the Whiteface Lodge. Steak and Stinger restaurant is the resort’s official dining venue, offering a hearty mix of steak and seafood in a gargantuan room with 28-foot ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling stone fireplaces that light up the evening.
This romantic elegance, situated so close to some of the best ski terrain in the east, make Whiteface Lodge our pick for this month’s resort spotlight.
