La Costa Resort & Spa

Las Costa poolIf you’re looking for a luxurious yet family-friendly excursion for your next vacation, then head south to Carlsbad, California, home of the famed La Costa Resort and Spa.

Situated on 400 rolling acres in the coastal foothills of Carlsbad, this luxury resort offers and relaxation that is sure to put the smile back on your face and a spring in your step.

You have your choice of airports: either Oceanside Municipal (OKB) or McClellan Palomar (CRQ), both of which are less than five miles from this luxury resort.

There are more than 552 spacious rooms and 76 deluxe one- and two-bedroom suites, each of which overlooks the resort’s meticulously manicured grounds and/or one of the golf courses. Rich woods and plush fabrics accent each room, creating a warm-yet-sophisticated refuge from the fuss and frenzy of everyday life.

The La Costa features two PGA-championship 18-hole golf courses, an 8,000-square-foot fitness center, and 17 tennis courts—four clay courts and 13 hard courts, providing plenty of competitive exercise that will work up an appetite.

There is also a 28,000-square-foot indoor spa with 42 treatment rooms, married to a 15,000-square-foot outdoor courtyard that is designed to make guests feel connected to the outdoors even while they are indoors. Amenities at the spa include a pool, a Roman waterfall that produces a shoulder-pounding massage, and private sunbathing areas.

For the little ones, La Costa offers Kidtopia, an interactive, supervised venue for children ages six months to 12 years, and Vibz, a gaming area for hard-to-please teens up to 16 years of age.

Know of a great resort or hotel that makes for a perfect home away from home? If so, send us your feedback.

Dining options about at this luxury resort, ranging from the resort’s signature BlueFire Grill, with its outdoor seating area that overlooks the plaza, to the Legends California Bistro. BlueFire offers flavorful fare designed around southern California’s fresh seafood and seasonal vegetables, while Legends offers a range of modern menu items like California Cioppino (an Italian seafood stew) to Chipotle-Mango BBQ ribs.

There are a wealth of activities to enjoy at the La Costa resort, but you don’t have to tackle them all in one trip. Whether you plan for a busy weekend or a relaxing week away, just being here is enough to make a difference. And that’s why we’ve selected it for this month’s resort spotlight.
