The Mountain View Grand
The Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa is a step back in time to an era where travel was a luxury to be enjoyed, and where splendor and elegance were the goal of every destination.
This world-class resort was built in 1865 on 400 carefully-manicured acres overlooking the White Mountains Presidential Range in Whitefield, New Hampshire. You can reach the resort by landing at the Mount Washington Regional Airport (HIE).
One of the nicest aspects of this resort is the well-manicured property. English flower gardens provide a place for peaceful walks in the cool mountain breezes, and an ample veranda makes a great spot to plop down in a rocking chair and enjoy hours of relaxation.
The resort features 145 luxury guest rooms and suites, each with in-room Internet access, comfortable bed linens and ample views of the surrounding mountains.
As you would expect for a resort situated in the environmental extremes of New Hampshire, activities at the Mountain View Grand vary depending on the season. In the winter, guests enjoy cross-country and downhill skiing, snow-shoeing, horseback riding, and snowmobile riding. There is also an in-house theater for those who would prefer not to go outdoors in the colder climates.
But summer, particularly this time of year, is when the resort reaches its peak season. The cool mountain air softens the summer sun and makes evenings occasionally brisk, an ideal combination for outdoor activities. Guests in the summer months enjoy golf in a 9-hole course built on rugged mountain terrain, hiking, horseback riding, and swimming.

The Mountain View's spa is a unique experience because it is situated on the top floor of the resort, with most of its 14 treatment rooms affording spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The resort's certified staff specializes in hydrotherapy treatments using native mountain water, ensuring that you will feel refreshed and invigorated after each treatment.
The resort offers five dining options sure to please every palate. The Country Club offers al fresco dining on an outdoor deck, and the Tavern is a great spot for casual burgers and a beer. But for fine dining, hold out for either the beautifully restored Crystal Ballroom or the Main Dining Room, formerly called Juliet's.
Luxury abounds at this wonderful New England resort, and that's why we've chosen it for this month's resort spotlight.
