The Resort At Glade Springs
If you’re looking for solid, ground-based adventure this Spring, lookno further than the Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia.
Glade Springs is comfortable and unpretentious, yet it offers elegant accommodations and fine dining excursions on par with any of the country’s top resorts. Best of all, it sits just three miles from Raleigh County Memorial Airport (BKW).
But what makes Glade Springs an ideal destination is its family friendly adventure packages. Sure they feature a full-service spa and golfing. But to this mix they’ve added horseback riding complete with pony rides for children, and mountain-oriented adventures.
There are five different types of white-water rafting excursions available at Glade Springs. Three excursions run the beautiful New River, which winds its way through gorges as deep as 1,300 feet, while two additional excursions run the challenging Gauley River, known as one of the top stretches of whitewater in the United States.
For a more sedate adventure, guests can rent canoes, go hiking, rock climbing, or even head off-road on an ATV excursion.
But perhaps the most serene adventure Glade Springs has to offer is its famous trout or smallmouth bass fishing. The resort offers fly fishing classes, a special “fish and float” excursion in which you fish from comfortable rafts, and even a “walk and wade” excursion in which your expert guide will lead you on a hike to one of the resort’s many secret fishing holes for an afternoon of restful peaceful relaxation.

But not all of Glade Springs’ charm is outdoors. Indoors, you’ll find a range of comfortable accommodations ranging from the manor houses, which can accommodate a single, hotel-style bedroom or an entire floor of four bedrooms, to the Chestnut Hill Lodges and Oak Lane Villas, which offer typical condo-style accommodations. For the most elite place to stay, check out the Stone Manor, a four-bedroom home located on the second green of the resort’s golf course that includes a jacuzzi and a billiards table.
Dining is an equally memorable experience, with Glade’s Grill & Bar on the second floor of the club-house offering fine American cuisine in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
This combination of outdoor adventure and indoor pampering will relax you and sooth your spirit. And that’s what makes the Resort at Glade Springs our choice for this month’s spotlight.
