The Broadmoor

While most people associate Colorado with great winter skiing, the spring and summer months
The Broadmoor - Terrace The Broadmoor - Terrace
offer a chance to explore this unspoiled landscape at its most beautiful time of year.

And what better launching pad from which to begin your exploration than the stately Broadmoor Resort, a full-service resort and spa located on 3,000 picturesque acres at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Since it opened in 1918, the Broadmoor has served as a mid-west getaway for the rich and famous. But its family friendly accommodations and aviation-friendly location also make it a great retreat.

The Broadmoor - Entrance The Broadmoor features two championship golf courses with spectacular views of Pike’s Peak and the Rocky Mountains, as well as three pools, including an outdoor infinity pool on the edge of Cheyenne Lake, and two massive, 14-person hot tubs.

Outdoor activities this time of year include hiking, rock climbing, fly fishing and ballooning. White water rafting, where guides take guests down the churning Arkansas River, begins in May.

The resort’s on-site spa, ranked by Condé Nast as one of the Top 25 Resort Spas, was recently renovated and scheduled to re-open in April. Services include a variety of therapies designed to sooth the body and soul.

There are more than 700 guest rooms, ranging from simple rooms with goose down pillows for $230 per night to fabulous, four-bedroom suites than range from $400 to more than $3,000 per night.

The resort offers babysitting service and has a camp during the summer for children ages 4 through 12. There is even an onsite Chidren’s Concierge to help plan activities.

There are 11 restaurants on site to please most any pallet, ranging from cafes at the pool, spa and club house, to the elegant Penrose Room,

nightly with a view of nearby Cheyenne Mountain. Charles Court is an American restaurant featuring a choice of lakeside dining on the patio, or the “Chef’s Table,” where you can watch the chef prepare your meal. Stars’ Lounge, the onsite nightclub, caps off the perfect evening with fine cigars, liqueurs and dancing.

There is something for everyone at the Broadmoor, and at this time of year, the resort is at its peak beauty. That’s why we’ve selected it as this issue’s Nest of the Month.
