The Lodges at Deer Valley
Some of the best skiing in the United States is in the midwest, with Utahs towering peaks, wide ski runs and empty lift lines at the top of every die-hard skiers list.
So it should come as no surprise that one of our favorite resorts this time of year is The Lodges at Deer Valley, which is adjacent to the 1,750-acre Deer Valley Ski Resort, and within a short drive of the 3,300-acre Park City Ski Resort.
The Lodges at Deer Valley features rustic, lodge-style accommodations including hotel rooms, or 1-, 2-, 3-, or 4-bedroom suites featuring luxurious mountain décor and a warm and tasteful atmosphere. Rooms feature hardwood floors, fully-equipped kitchens, gas fireplaces, and stunning mountain views that have made this resort one of the top 25 ski resort lodges by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler.
The resort is about a half-hour drive from Heber City Municipal Airport (36U), or 45 minutes from two Salt Lake City airports (U42 and SLC). There is a shuttle service that will take guests to the airports and to the ski lifts, and the resort offers a complimentary breakfast during the winter ski season.
Restaurants in the Deer Valley/Park City area are plentiful, with an eclectic mix of dining experiences sure to please everyone on the trip.
The resort property features an outdoor heated pool and hot tub that are open year-round, ideal for working off the kinks the mountains put in your muscles after a long day of skiing. Room rates range from $230 to $370 per night in winter for a hotel room, to $800 to $1,360 per night for a four-bedroom suite.

The Park City Culinary Wine and Ski Classic, an annual event that combines wine tasting, cooking seminars and cutting-edge skiing for an outstanding vacation experience, takes place from Feb. 10 to 13.
And speaking of skiing, Deer Valley has been rated the #1 and #2 United States ski resort (in different years) by the readers of Ski magazine. Its carefully-groomed trails are not open to snow boards, and lift tickets are limited to 6,500 per day, ensuring short lift lines and plenty of room at the lodge for lunch or a cup of hot cocoa.
Great skiing fun coupled with first-class accommodations make this winter wonderland one of our favorite resorts.
