Hawk's Cay Resort
Duck Key, Florida Keys
Fly into the Marathon Airport (KMTH), grab a cab (approximately $20), or rent a car and head north to the Hawks Cay Resort on Duck Key. It will be a scenic 12 mile ride on the Overseas Highway with the Atlantic to the east and the Gulf of Mexico to the west. Accommodations include rooms, suites, and villas, some with a water view, some with a view of lush tropical gardens. This is the place to unwind, relax, and develop a 'Keys' kind of attitude.
Surrounded by water, it's not surprising to find an abundance of water sports available to resort guests. Children and teens will be kept busy with a variety of activities including nature excursions, glow-in-the-dark volleyball, crab races and scavenger hunts.
If you've ever wanted to learn how to sail or scuba dive, you're at the right resort. The Offshore Sailing School offers resort guests a three day Learn to Sail program. Upon completion, you will have earned the U.S. Sailing Basic Keel Boat Certification. The Scuba Center teaches several different courses and once certified, you will be diving on one of North America's only living reefs.
Looking for something different? Try interacting with the resident dolphins. Several times a day, guests can hug, kiss, splash, and play with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins.
Dolphin Discovery is an expensive activity and one requiring advance reservations, but definitely an activity to remember. If you're not quite sure about getting up close and personal with a several-hundred-pound mammal, you can opt for Dockside Dolphins. Whichever program you choose, there is no doubt you will come away with a better understanding of the sensitive ecosystem of the Keys and its marine life.
Hungry guests will enjoy an eclectic mix of cuisine from Florida, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean. Choose from several restaurants and be sure to try the daily gourmet breakfast buffet at the Palm Terrace. It's a great way to start the day.
Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club St. Petersburg, Florida When you land at the Albert Whitted Airport (KSPG), you are in the heart of St. Petersburg and blocks away from the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club. Complimentary limo service is available for the short ride to this grand hotel.
Since opening in the roaring twenties, the rich and famous have sipped cocktails on the veranda and danced in the ballroom; among them were Babe Ruth, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Herbert Hoover (although not all dancing together).

A host of amenities will keep adults occupied while the Kid's Club keeps the young ones busy and supervised. For beach goers, the country's number one beach is a short drive away. Fort DeSoto Park topped the 2005 top ten survey by Dr. Beach. The hotel will arrange transportation and provide complimentary towels and water.
Numerous activities and attractions are within walking distance. Or, if you prefer, hop aboard the St. Petersburg "Looper" to tour the city. If you enjoy museums, you'll have many choices. The world famous Salvador Dali Museum and the St. Pete Museum of History are good places to start. A replica Benoist Airboat commemorating the first commercial air flight from St. Pete to Tampa in 1914 is on permanent display at the history museum.
The Vinoy consistently gets rave reviews for its award-winning restaurants. Like the museums, guests will have many choices. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea, or Promenade Punch the Vinoy's signature drink are available in a variety of settings. Whatever you need here, chances are good your needs will be met.
