Fly-In Fishing DestinationsDiamond D Ranch
While you are in Idaho, you may want to consider doubling up and adding a trip to this gem of a ranch.

Located in the Salmon River Mountains, the Diamond D Ranch is accessed at the Upper Loon Creek USFS Airport [U72]. Guides Rhonda Price and David Tucker (www.dreamsonthefly.com) lead anglers into the world of fly fishing in this remote wilderness area.

While you are here you can cast dry flies for wild cutthroat trout in Loon Creek, one of the main tributaries of the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, or head over to the ranch's private lake to try your luck at catching rainbow trout. Another option is to take a 3.5-mile round-trip hike to Mystery Lake - a high altitude mountain lake stocked with California golden trout.

In addition to sport fishing, this working cattle ranch offers trail rides and pack trips for big game hunting in the surrounding wilderness area. Other activities include panning for gold, horseshoes, badminton, volleyball.

If solitude is what you're searching for, the Diamond D Ranch offers plenty of it. Because the ranch is off the beaten path, your stay here promises new friendships, fabulous fly fishing and breathtaking beauty.

Nemacolin Woodlands Resort & Spa
If you want to combine mountain views with swanky style and a wide menu of activities catering to the whole family, fly north for an action-packed weekend at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort & Spa.

Located on 2,800-acres in the Laurel Highland Mountains of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort & Spa offers "West Coast Attitude" at an "East Coast Latitude" and is accessed by pilots at the Nemacolin Airport [PA88].

Situated on the site of a private game reserve owned by the Rockwell family, this four-star resort continues its tradition of catering to the elite with fine dining, championship golf, an award-winning spa, an equestrian center, a shooting academy and specialty shops.

The European-style hotel exudes elegance with its coffered ceilings and crystal chandeliers. Fourteen restaurants and lounges tempt the taste buds and the resort's $50 million art collection is a sight to behold.

Listed as an Orvis Endorsed Lodge, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa offers instruction for fly fishing on the nearby Youghiogheny River, Dunbar Creek, Meadow Run and Beaver Creek.

However, if spin casting is more your style, you can head over to Lake P.J., which is also a cool retreat for kayaking and canoeing. In addition to some of the best fishing in the East, this posh resort offers a whole menu of outdoor adventures.

Take aim at the 147-acre Shooting Academy, a premier sporting clay course simulating small game hunting. Play 18 holes of golf at Mystic Rock, a championship Pete Dye course and home of the PGA Tour 84 Lumber Classic. Or get rough and rugged at the Offroad Driving Academy, where you get the chance to drive a Hummer on a one-mile field course and the resort's logging roads.

Kids even get into the game with a climbing wall, paintball, trail rides, miniature golf, mountain biking, video games and a family swimming pool.
