Editor's Note

For us, flying is a team effort. Maybe only one of us has the license and maybe only one of us is legally responsible for the flight. But whether it’s spotting traffic or writing down frequencies hurled at us by ATC, we work together to ensure a fun, safe flight.

And it is work. Most people travel by airline, content to sit in the back with a good book and without caring what goes on up-front. But not us.

Our unique way of traveling by general aviation airplane is travel that is earned through hard work and a love of adventure.

There are a lot of other couples who fly together. Many families also fly together; the family airplane of today is what the station wagon was 20 or 30 years ago. People fly both for work and for leisure. And research shows that while most airplane owners have developed a business justification for buying an airplane, much of the travel they enjoy is with a spouse or other family members. And why not? It’s the most amazing way to travel.

It’s for this special group that we’ve created Aviator’s Guide. It’s a magazine dedicated to people who use their airplanes to travel and enjoy life. Our plan is to help today’s aviators find new places to go, new ways to make flying pleasurable, and hopefully, add new dimension to this special lifestyle we experience as general aviation travelers.

Our editorial team is made up of aviators—men and women who travel for business and pleasure—who realize that aviation isn’t about the airplane, it’s about where the airplane can take you, and about the unique experiences you can enjoy traveling in it.

Our focus will be on destinations, for times when the travel is your own and the goal is pure recreation. We’ll also produce service pieces that will help you travel better, such as how to find the best FBOs to stop at, or what’s the best way to travel with a pet. We’ll focus on products and services that make general aviation travel more enjoyable, and we’ll write our articles and design our pages in a way that can be enjoyed by both members of the aviation team, not just the pilot.

We’ve created Aviator’s Guide to help you enjoy general aviation travel. We hope you’ll enjoy Aviator’s Guide.
