A Time For Giving Thanks
This is the time of year when our thoughts turn fuzzily toward our families and friends. Our normally hectic brains turn into puddles of sentimental mush; we count our blessings, remember to be thankful, and focus on ways to give someone we care about a gift that shows how we feel.
While we’re all in that giving mood, let's remember to be thankful to all those in aviation who have helped us along the way. Let us each find within ourselves a way to give back to those who have helped us during the year.
We are all citizens of a very small, privileged community, and the way we treat each other says a lot about how we view ourselves.
Yes, it’s appropriate to wish ATC a Happy Thanksgiving when they hand you off to the next area. And you should remember to give something to the lineman who helped you pull your airplane into the hanger in the pouring rain, and to the friendly manager at the FBO who kept your guests entertained when you were two hours late arriving. Send a card to the front desk at the flight school that “forgot” to charge you the daily minimum when you canceled a flight lesson at the last minute. Bring a bottle of wine to the CFI you gave you your BFR.
While we’re in the giving mood, we’d like to say a few words of thanks ourselves, on behalf of everyone here at Aviator's Guide.
