Let The Flying Season Begin
I must confess that Im a big fan of the ballistic recovery parachute. Having slammed around in the back seat of the airplane during Joannes many pinch-hitter sessions, Id feel much more comfortable knowing she could just grab the big red handle and pull if something happened to me, and not have to worry about landing the airplane.
Its the same reason we buy life insuranceits not for us, its for our families when we cant help them.
BRS CEO Larry Williams said that while walking the manufacturing floor one day he met a woman who was working on one of the companys parachutes and she told him she enjoyed her work because, Im saving someones life. Thats a good business to be in, and we wish BRS much success in the future. We hope they will grow and be able to supply parachutes to anyone who needs them for years to come.
Our business isnt saving lives but in making them better for people who fly. So heres what we have on tap for this issue:
Anyone who has ever battled a teenager over curfews or room cleaning will appreciate this months Leisure Travel piece by contributor Amy Laboda. Amy explores ways flight training can help your teen become a better person, whether he or she pursues a life in flying or not.
For adventure, Janice Rosenberg take us on a wonderful tour of the Oregon coast, a 350-mile stretch of shoreline along Highway 101 that is both captivating and stimulating at the same time. Janice writes that to get the best experience, youll want to rent a car to explore the many cities and villages that dot this pristine, relatively unspoiled stretch of coastline.
Or head south, where Carrie Miner takes us to some of the most romantic and restful southern islands dotting the coast along the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico.
