Perspectives

Great Things Are Coming In 2006
We've seen a tremendous change in general aviation since the first issue rolled off the presses in 2003.

Airplanes have become smarter, safer and easier to fly. The industry has firmly rebounded from the post-9/11 "GAdepression" of 2002. But perhaps most importantly, general aviation travel is becoming an accepted way of life.

Three things have helped make this happen. First, airline travel becoming more and more absurd. Second, celebrities and successful business people are becoming pilots, raising the profile of GA as something virtually anyone can do. And third, this community has a voice in Aviator's Guide.

Many of magazines cover general aviation from the pilot's perspective. But ours is the only one that focuses exclusively on pilots who use their airplane for both business and pleasure. Ours is also the only one written to be enjoyed by the whole
general aviation family.

To kick off our fourth year, we're launching a number of new initiatives designed to help you and your family get more fun out of general aviation travel.

The first is a cooperative effort with our friends at Columbia, makers of the Columbia 400. We're inviting readers who stop by the Columbia booth at the three top air shows this year to have their picture appear on a cover of Aviator's Guide. Just stop by the Columbia booth, spend a few moments with the aircraft, and we'll give you your very own frame-able cover that you can take with you.

The second is a contest we're running in cooperation with Cirrus, makers of the SR22-GTS. Our Heart and Mind Quiz challenges readers to show how well they know the Cirrus product line, while getting a chance to win a retreat at the Crown Jewel Resort, one of Nova Scotia's most memorable vacation spots.

It's going to be a great year, one we hope will be filled with fun, excitement, and lots of great GA travel. We look forward to sharing it with you, and giving new voice to those special folks who use their airplanes to travel and enjoy life.

Happy New Year!
