Perspectives

Onward And Upward!
Welcome to the first anniversary edition of Aviator’s Guide!

When we launched this magazine a year ago, we were driven by little more than an idea and encouragement from a few industry veterans.
So much has happened in the past 12 months that it’s hard for us to believe we’ve only been publishing for a year.

We’re pleased to announce that Aviator’s Guide has won an Ozzie Award for Excellence in Magazine Design. This is a very prestigious award that is given out each October to magazines in different design categories. Each year, more than 1,400 magazines in business, consumer and association categories enter, so we were extremely pleased to be a winner in just our first year of publication.

We’re also pleased to announce that Aviator’s Guide has applied for membership in BPA International. BPA is the leading magazine circulation audit firm, and its job is to independently verify a publication’s circulation so that advertisers can trust the figures a magazine provides them. Our application to BPA means that during this year, we’ll undergo our first circulation audit, a very important milestone in the growth of a national magazine.

Most of all, we’re thrilled at the response we’ve gotten from you, our readers and advertisers. While some adopted a “wait and see” attitude toward our new approach and fresh ideas, many jumped on board and helped us make our first year of publication a success. From Sun ‘n Fun in Lakeland to AOPA Expo in Philadelphia, you’ve told us how much you like what we’re doing and how you look forward to every issue.

What’s in store for our second year? More surprises, to be sure. We’ll explore top fly-in communities where you can live with your airplane, great GA gaming destinations, historical sites that airlines won’t fly to, and even tackle some of the great Halls of Fame as only a general aviation traveler can explore them.

We’ll find great, family-friendly places to fly in Alaska, Bozeman, New York and Toronto, and we’ll explore more innovative, cross-country airplanes that make general aviation travel safer and more reliable.

But above all, we will continue to build a magazine that offers something you won’t find in any other aviation magazine: clear, non-technical advice that helps your whole family use your airplane to travel and enjoy life.
